I’ve always been an avid lover of films… growing up I dreamt of somehow being involved in the film industry, but with no knowledge or connections, I believed this would be out of my reach. After school, I spent years working in non-industry jobs, from construction work to office work. These jobs were fine to pay my way through life but I could never rid myself of my dream to write and direct in the Film and TV industry, so after years of wandering through the wilderness, I decided I had to give it a go.
I studied Film and TV Production at FutureWorks School Of Media, enrolling on their night course enabled me to still work a full-time job in the daytime. During my time at the college, I met many of the people I still collaborate with today, including my partner at Primrose Drum Pictures; Steve O’Reilly. During my time at college I gained my first feature film credit working in the camera department, this fuelled my desire and I’ve since gone on to work on several films. Utilising my production skills, I’ve worked at different levels within the industry, working as runner up to 3rd, 2nd and 1st Assistant Director positions.
I started up Primrose Drum Pictures understanding I can’t just walk into a Director’s chair, so the idea was to create a company I can make films under. I’ve written, produced and directed several films that have been shortlisted on the festival circuit. My plans for the future keep growing and growing, I always have concepts being worked on and projects in production. With each step I keep moving forward towards my goal of fulfilling my hunger to become successful within the industry.

I came into the industry later than most having had a successful career in a different field previously. However, I do feel that previous experience helped me cultivate an acumen that stands to me every day within this industry. Having that broader view of the business and management side of things, and the ability to step back and view things from a completely different perspective is a distinct advantage, especially in pre-production, which we all know can have some serious headaches haha.
However, at the heart of it all, I’m still a film nerd, I’m still that young kid sitting in the movie theatre for the first time staring at the big screen in awe and thinking ‘I want to to do that’.
From as far back as I can remember I have been mesmerised by the magic of films and filmmaking. So even though my career path wasn’t a direct line to my passion, it was always an inevitability in my mind. So making the decision to return to college was the turning point for me.
I met Danny at college whilst studying TV & Film Production, and whilst others in our year were moving tangentially to the direction I wanted to go, with most wanting to get involved FX and Post etc, Danny and I always ended up on the same projects because we were both passionate about the same thing…..writing great stories, and bringing them to life in film. After college we still kept ending up on the same film sets…..so as our friendship grew we both realised that there is never a right time to make the jump and chase your dreams…..you just have to trust in your abilities, your passion, and jump……so we did…..and Primrose Drum Pictures was born.
